Notice Regarding FreeFly Astro SL8 Drone Batteries

We have been made aware of an incident involving FreeFly’s SL8 batteries resulting in their publishing a Service Bulletin and want to bring it to your attention.

The current recommendation from FreeFly is as follows:

“At this time, there is no immediate action required from our customers. If you have any abnormal battery behavior during use, charging, or storage, please contact Freefly Support.

Next Steps: Freefly will provide an update to this Service Bulletin by 11/21. We will follow up with all SL8 / SL4 / Astro customers on our investigation findings and all required customer actions that come from our investigation.

Here is the final notice regarding FreeFly’s SL8 batteries and their recent Service Bulletin regarding the SL8 battery fire in one of their offices.

SB003 Super Light Battery - SL8 Battery Incident - 21 Nov 22 Follow-Up

The current recommendation from FreeFly is as follows:

"There is no immediate action required from our customers. If you have any abnormal battery behavior during use, charging, or storage, please contact Freefly Support. "

FreeFly also notes:
"There are no required actions and customers are advised to continue normal SL4 / SL8 / Astro operations with diligent attention paid to any battery faults. Freefly continues to be confident in our SL batteries and stands behind their safety, reliability, and performance. "
