3D Data Extraction

Hey Guys,

The automated planimetric feature extract is a great resource for 2D mapping, but is the technology available for 3D Feature Extraction for Topographic Surveys? Having the linework on elevations as well as showing important features like curbs and sidewalks would be a huge milestone for autonomous data extraction.

Rami,

Welcome to the community! Great question. We will have to ask @Alex to add that to our feature requests.

When I did the planimetric model done through rock robotic, the line work is not on contour? Example: the lines for the roadwork, mobile homes, etc come in good for horizontal location, but for elevations. The line work comes in above and below the existing ground. Is there a way to correct them to be on contour?
Thanks
Ron

I noticed the same issue in the Freefly Astro Planimetrics Demo. The xy locations of the linework were great but in the 3D view the elevations were not. Is it possible to have the 2D linework have the proper elevations as well?

@aerialprospex The planimetric deliverable are points, lines, and polygons. Each of these points, lines, and polygons can have only one Z height. That is why you see the line or polygon on a slope match the elevation at one point but not others. This is very typical with 3d planimetrics.

That makes complete sense! Thank you.
